Hi,my name is Hank Busch I am 43 years old and i am dying of a genetic disese called alpha-1 anti trypson deficiency. You may know it as severe lung disease or COPD. I have only 11% use of my lungs and am on oxygen 24 hours a day.
The reason I started this website is because I want to let people know how I am doing and that I am still here.
If it wasn't for my parents, I would be in a lot worse shape physically and financially. They have helped me purchase a special van to transport my electric wheelchar so I can make it to my appointments and go outside.
I recently had a stair lift installed in my house,i would like to thank everyone who made it possible for me to get it.
I am 43 and it's really difficult knowing I will never be able to do the simple things in life like walking around the block.

Alpha-1 is a rare genetic disese which affects the liver. The liver doesn't produce the enzyme needed to clean your lungs, causing them to deteriorate, giving you severe COPD (at least that is how I understand it).
I try to work out everyday at least riding my stationary bike and doing some situps. I am going to fight this disease all the way to the end.
I want to be prepared for the future. So I could use a prayer or 2 from everyone too.

I just want to add a little more to my story it is now oct.17,2009 i have just lost 40lbs. and I'm on my way to recovery I recently met someone she believes in me and has given me the courage to fight even harder.
everything seems to be getting easier
so life is good for me now if i stay on track i will be getting new lungs before summer (i hope)just hopeing to get on list by march thank you all for your support.
